Abstract
The 1999-2000 jury selected 35 projects for publication. Six projects were cited for special recognition. Four correctional facilities, five court facilities, seven detention facilities, seven juvenile facilities, four law enforcement facilities, six multiple-use facilities, and two special projects were selected by the jury. A correctional facility in Argentina, a Canadian law enforcement facility, a Canadian emergency operations and communications center, and a detention facility in New Zealand were selected by the jury along with the U.S. facilities. The information on each facility includes the owner; type of facility; type of construction; size of the site area; the area of the building; the bed capacity; cost of construction; the status of the project; and the names and locations of the architect, the structural/mechanical/electrical engineer, the operations consultant, and the general contractor. A statement by the architect is included for each facility; this statement is a brief description of the facility. Illustrations include a site plan, floor plan, and photographs of the facility's interior. An index of architects is provided.
