The papers are intended to help policymakers and practitioners promote and sustain effective innovation in community corrections. They address three pathways for advancing effective community corrections innovations. The first is by fostering strategic management of community corrections agencies, so as to enable policymakers to successfully introduce and implement desired programs in complex and hostile political environments. The second is by facilitating diffusion of research, so as to accelerate the transfer of treatment effectiveness knowledge across a greater number of practitioners, agencies, and policymakers. The third pathway is by enhancing treatment responsivity, so as to broaden the number of offenders positively affected by correctional interventions. The book is divided into four sections. The first section includes three chapters on the strategic management of community corrections. The second section presents two chapters on innovative programs for facilitating the transfer of treatment effectiveness research. The third section contains three papers, which discuss the criminogenic needs and responsivity principles of effective treatment. The fourth section presents a chapter on trends in juvenile justice and a chapter on developments in the restorative justice movement. Chapter references and a subject index
