The primary focus is on specialized steps to be used in addition to normal investigative procedures employed in any sexual assault case. The authors note the abuse of Rohypnol and GHB has reached alarming levels in South Florida and other States. They examine general characteristics of Rohypnol and GHB and their legal status, availability and appearance, and screening and testing. Symptoms of the drugs and their role in date rape are described. Investigative suggestions regarding these drugs are suggested that focus on urine and blood samples, laboratory testing, search and seizure, victim interviews, witnesses, undercover work, sexual assault examinations, subpoenas, and trial experts.
