The bulletin includes a description of Lubbock Police Department's preparations for Y2K and responses to a survey about their Y2K preparations sent to a sample of Texas police departments. One of the best ways police departments might plan for Y2K is to work with other emergency service organizations and community groups by conducting general emergency preparedness drills. Those drills should not focus on specific scenarios, but rather on building relationships, trust and a sense of teamwork. If Y2K turns out to be a non-event, even though building close relationships may have cost organizations time and money, there may be returns on the investment in the face of an unforeseen future disaster.
