This book contains materials relating to the method developed and used by Reid and Associates in teaching a course on criminal interrogation and behavior analysis interviews to law enforcement officers and others involved in security investigations.
Abstract
The first chapter provides information on factual analysis and the behavior analysis interview, and outlines steps involved in interrogation. Subsequent chapters focus in more detail on factual analysis, personality disorders, criminal profiling, behavior analysis (verbal, paralinguistic, and non-verbal behavior), personality traits, question validity, interrogation profiling, and general concepts of interrogation. Additional chapters cover arson, drug, homicide, sexual assault, and theft investigations. The final chapter addresses interrogation techniques in trial proceedings and the integrity of confessions. A glossary of terms is included. 62 footnotes
