As Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) teams have become more established within the police community and a certain language has also evolved, this reference contains definitions of terms, techniques, and strategies associated with the police SWAT function.
Abstract
Technical data are presented on the tactical topics of training, equipment, deployment, operational strategies, slang, quotes, helpful hints, and historical details. To provide a more comprehensive understand of terms used by police SWAT teams, topics such as counter-terrorism, domestic terrorism, and international terrorism are also covered in the reference. In order to make the book more useful, many terms are cross-referenced. The terms should be of interest to police officers assigned to a SWAT team and to individuals who are interested in tactical response operations and what is involved in the SWAT function. The reference encompasses certain administrative considerations that pertain to the organization and management of a SWAT program. Therefore, it is also designed to assist both police executives and tactical commanders. References and illustrations
