This statistical report tabulates data on the population of adults in correctional institutions in Washington State and on work release during fiscal year 1997.
Abstract
The report is organized in three sections. The first section contains data on the population of adults in adult correctional institutions and work release, specifically data on the average daily population and rated capacity of institutions by month, the racial distribution of inmates, the distribution of offenses and violent crime convictions, sentencing, female inmates, and county of conviction. The second section characterizes admissions to prison by month and type of admission, type and county of conviction, age at admission, inmate race and sex, county and race, county and Hispanic origin, sentencing authority, and offense type. The third section presents data on prison releases by type of release and month, race and Hispanic origin, category of admission, offense types, sentencing authority, month, and sex.
