Statistical tables on magistrate court sentencing in Victoria, Australia, are presented to assist magistrate courts and attorneys appearing before these courts with their respective sentencing functions.
Abstract
The statistical tables are organized according to statistical measures of penalties, suspended sentences, penalties imposed on persons sentenced based on principal offense, disposition of offenses, type of penalty imposed for each charged offense, persons sentenced by offense groups according to age and sex, and the 100 most common offenses. Appendixes provide additional information on Victorian legislation pertinent to magistrate courts and codes for Commonwealth legislation and regulations. Tables and figures
