Abstract
The catalog’s first section lists the five training sessions that were scheduled for 2000. Topics included cultural considerations in assisting victims of sexual and physical violence, assisting battered immigrants using the immigration provisions of the Violence Against Women Act, juvenile court response to victims of juvenile offenders, and leadership and professional development. The second section lists trainings that are available but not currently scheduled. Topics include AIDS and victim services, training of community crisis response teams, death notification training for different categories of professionals and victim advocates, prevention of financial exploitation of the elderly, and hate and bias crime training. Additional topics include identifying domestic violence, promising practices and strategies for victim services in corrections, and a resource package for children required to testify in Federal court, and training of trainers for victim impact classes for offenders. Further topics include a telemarketing fraud project for Latino elderly, traumatic grief, a victim advocate’s guide to the media, and victim-sensitive victim-offender mediation and dialogue. The third section introduces trainings that are under development. Each course description explains the content, target audience, and the curriculum developer.
