This sourcebook identifies specific strategies used by campuses to deal with student alcohol abuse.
Abstract
The descriptions of strategies cover program design, target audience, activities, rationale, program organization and implementation, factors contributing to program success, resources used in program implementation, public awareness, and program impact. Comprehensive programs are described, and program abstracts are included. The sourcebook also provides information on the extent and impact of college student alcohol use. The authors conclude that the various programs exhibit rich diversity and creativity, a fully comprehensive approach is rarely achieved, campus initiatives often do not clearly articulate desired outcomes, and many alcohol abuse prevention strategies are blended with health-oriented approaches. Recommendations are offered to strengthen campus alcohol abuse prevention efforts. An appendix contains an index and a list of participating campuses. 16 references
