In providing an overview of the juvenile justice system, this text contains 12 chapters that deal with various facets of the juvenile justice system.
Abstract
Each chapter of the text contains an outline, critical review questions, key terms, recommended readings, and notes and references. The first two chapters cover juvenile delinquency and juvenile justice, historical and theoretical perspectives on juvenile justice. Subsequent chapters examine juvenile offenders and police processes, pre-adjudication detention and diversion programs for juveniles, juvenile court processes, non-delinquent children in the juvenile justice system, juvenile probation, juvenile institutional corrections, and juvenile parole and aftercare.
