The document consists of three sections: a description of the results from June 1999; tables of detailed results from the latest survey and previous surveys; and methodological notes and further information. The results are in six parts: all criminal cases; indictable cases; summary non-motoring cases; summary motoring cases; Youth Court and youth defendants; and persistent young offenders. The average time from offense to completion for all defendants was 139 days in June 1999, down from 140 days in June 1998. Offense to completion time was also reduced for indictable, summary non-motoring and summary motoring cases separately. The average time from offense to completion for defendants in all criminal cases in Youth Courts fell to 100 days in June 1999 from 114 days in June 1998 and 129 days in June 1997.
