Abstract

The manual is comprised of three parts. The first part presents general information on alcohol and drug dependency, recovery, and relapse and defines chemical dependency. The second part looks at relapse prevention treatment, with emphasis on self-regulation, integration, coping skills, change, awareness, significant others, and maintenance. This part also describes basic counseling skills and group counseling. The third part provides information on helping chemically dependent criminal offenders by covering self-assessment, warning signs, and recovery planning. A relapse prevention workbook is appended. 9 references
