This training videotape is directed to students in elementary school and presents scenarios and narration that explains the general rules of behavior and the specific rules that apply to behavior on the bus, on the playground, in the restroom, in the hallways, and in the cafeteria.
Abstract
The scenes include both inappropriate and appropriate behavior. The narrator explains that students should behave in ways that are safe, responsible, and respectful. The narrator explains that students are to walk facing forward, to keep their hands to themselves, to seek help from adults, and to sit in chairs with their own feet and the chair legs on the ground. Other rules are to use kind words, to wait their turn, to follow directions of all adults, to take care of their belongings and the school’s equipment, to be honest, and to complete their work. Among bus rules are to arrive on time at the bus stop, to stay seated, to keep their hands inside the bus, and to use their 6-inch voices at all times. Playground rules forbid chasing and play fighting and require students to stay out of areas marked by yellow lines and to ask an adult before using the bathroom. The narrator also asks the instructor to pause the videotape to give students the opportunity to discuss the scenarios.
