An organization chart of the Tennessee judicial system is followed by a descriptive overview of the State's judicial system. The responsibilities and tasks are then outlined for the Administrative Office of the Courts, the Court Services Division, the Finance and Personnel Division, the Statistical Services and Indigent Defense Division, and the Technology Services Division. An explanation of the jurisdiction and composition of the Tennessee Supreme Court is followed by a review of the Supreme Court's caseload data for fiscal year 1998-99. Similar information and data are then provided for the Court of Appeals and the Court of Criminal Appeals. The Court System Directory contains the names of the criminal court judges, circuit court judges, chancellors, general sessions judges, criminal/circuit court clerks, and clerk and masters for each of the State's 31 districts. Descriptions of the work of the various boards and commissions is followed by tabular data on filings and dispositions for the chancery, circuit, and criminal courts of each district. The report concludes with data on damages and torts filings and dispositions for each district's cases that involved personal injury or death (July 1, 1998, through June 30, 1999).
