The 1999 annual report of the Louisiana Supreme Court describes the court's caseload, administrative responsibilities, and activities during the year.
Abstract
The report notes that the Supreme Court continued its efforts during 1999 to improve the administration of justice in the State. These efforts focused on public perceptions of the judicial branch, improvements to assure fairness and equal treatment in the operation of the court system, the reduction of court delays, the improvement of public access to courts, the improvement of child support enforcement, and public education on the court system. In addition, court activities during the year aimed at improving the juvenile justice system and establishing central management, accountability, and operating structures for the Families in Need of Services program. Other court activities were concerned with judicial outreach and improvements to the Case Management Information System. The annual report contains sections on the Supreme Court library, judicial education, judicial ethics, regulating the practice of law, and the Judiciary Commission of Louisiana.
