Abstract
Following a history of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), this report profiles the Association's Crime Gun Interdiction and Investigation Assistance Project, which has thus far provided 53 law enforcement agencies with technical assistance on crime-gun interdiction and investigative strategies since the grant began in 1996. Biographical information is provided on IACP personnel, ATF personnel, and the Bureau of Justice Assistance personnel. A report by the Center to Prevent Handgun Violence briefly describes its various projects in working with police agencies nationwide to reduce gun-related violence, injury, and death by acting as liaisons to the criminal justice community and individual law enforcement professionals. Biographical information on Center personnel is provided. This report also describes the Police Executive Research Forum's National Guns First Training Program, which trains law enforcement officers to help reduce illegal trafficking of firearms. This is followed by descriptions of Pennsylvania's strategic approach to combat gun violence; Virginia State Police goals and strategies for "Statewide Violent Crime and Crime Gun Interdiction"; the West Virginia State Police report; and the Maryland State Police report.
