This report summarizes crimes and arrests in New York State during 1998.
Abstract
The report, which includes data sources and a county map of New York State, is divided into seven sections. Section One, Crimes Reported, includes index offenses, violent crimes, property crimes and selected offense summaries. Section Two, Arrests, includes a summary of Uniform Crime Reporting arrests, and arrests by county, by type of crime and by age, sex, race and ethnicity of offender. Section Three, Arrest Processing, includes a summary of computerized criminal history arrests, adult arrests for fingerprintable offenses by category and county and dispositions of misdemeanor arrests by region. Section Four, Felony Indictment Processing, includes a summary of felony indictments, felony indictments by region, dispositions and convictions by county, processing flow and times by region, sentences for convictions of selected felonies and distribution of maximum sentences to State correctional facilities for selected felony convictions. Section Five, Law Enforcement Personnel, describes employees and expenditures, officers killed or assaulted, municipal police personnel by county and agency, sheriff personnel by county and multi-jurisdictional police personnel by agency. Section Six, Legislative Reporting Mandates, includes felony insurance fraud offenses and violent felony offenses. Section Seven, Contributing Agency Reports, includes data from the courts, correctional, probation and parole services, children and family services and the crime victims board.
