The first half of he "encyclopedia" is composed of over 100 entries -- many of them essay length -- that describe the people, groups, and themes of the radical racist "right." Some of the entries are written by movement activists themselves, providing useful insider accounts. For these entries, a good deal of interview material, primary source writings, and in-depth discussion of pertinent issues are included so as to provide the reader with a more global perspective than a brief encyclopedic notation would provide. "Black Metal," for example, is included as a way of introducing the reader to an entire subculture in a form that individual entries on figures unfamiliar to most readers outside of Norway could not hope to convey. The second half of the "encyclopedia" contains original resources circulated within the movement, each prefaced and placed in scholarly context by the editor. The primacy of race is the chief litmus test for inclusion in this volume. For this reason, militias were not included in the encyclopedia, since their focus is on protections to keep and bear arms, fear of foreign subversion, and concern about the "New World Order."
