The second section of statistics focuses on characteristics of resident inmates in correctional facilities and those in pre-release status and on work release. Data are provided on race and Hispanic origin, violent crime convictions, age and sex, sentencing authority, county of conviction, offense category, and violent versus non-violent crime convictions. Detailed statistics on admissions to and releases from prison are included, as well as data on custody distributions of resident inmates and those in pre-release status and on work release.
