This is a report of the United Nations Ad Hoc Committee on the Elaboration of a Convention against Transnational Organized Crime, October 1999.
Abstract
Representatives of 106 States attended the sixth session of the Ad Hoc Committee. Also attending were observers for entities maintaining permanent observer missions to the United Nations, organizations of the United Nations system, institutes of the United Nations Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Programme network, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations. The report describes procedural and organizational matters and then lists the following substantive activities: (1) discussion on the additional legal instrument against illegal trafficking in and transporting of migrants; (2) discussion on the additional legal instrument against trafficking in persons, especially women and children; (3) discussion on the revised draft United Nations Convention Against Transnational Organized Crime; (4) informal consultations; and (5) adoption of the report of the Ad Hoc Committee on its sixth session.
