Criminologists in the United Kingdom and elsewhere face the problem of translating their research into crime prevention action. At least in the field of property crime, however, a delivery mechanism already exists in the insurance industry, which is uniquely positioned to motivate clients to implement crime prevention measures. The missing ingredient on the part of the industry is knowledge of criminological research, which might help insurers direct their activities. The author emphasizes the importance of research on repeat victimization and the identification of features that make properties vulnerable to crime. He strongly recommends improvements in crime prevention practices and dialogue between criminologists and the insurance industry. 51 notes, 6 tables, and 5 figures
