This report presents inmate statistics and probation and parole statistics for the Virginia Department of Corrections for August 2000 and notes that the average of 30,406 offenders during the month included 27,221 State-responsible offenders and 3,185 out-of-State offenders.
Abstract
The number of State-responsible offenders represented a 0.4-percent increase from the 27,126 inmates in custody on the average during the previous month. The number represented a 0.3-percent increase from the average population recorded 1 year earlier. The probation and parole caseload of 38,136 included 5,301 active parolees and 32,835 active probationers. The probation and parole caseload declined 0.1 percent from the previous month.
