The journal includes research-based papers and case studies, as well as papers aimed at developing theory and good practice. It examines research and development on technical aspects of community safety as well as the changing environments in which technology operates. It contains original articles as well as book reviews. This issue features articles concerning: (1) growth and development of two neighborhood watch schemes in south Wales; (2) the emerging problem of theft of external vehicle parts; (3) the issues surrounding cameras in the courtroom; (4) community governance, crime control, and local diversity; (5) the state of criminality in the Czech Republic and the challenge for legislation, prevention, and research; and (6) surfing the Net for data on local crime and disorder strategies in the U.K. In addition, three reviews evaluate books regarding crime and social change in Middle England, race and drug trials, and governmentality and crime control.
