Abstract
Beginning articles cover computer-related crimes, crimes against values, conditional sentencing, parole and conditional release, and the changing correctional environment. Additional articles focus on the conduct of investigations by the Correctional Service of Canada; roles of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, the Correctional Service of Canada, and the National Parole Board; efforts of the Community Forum Program to engage the public on correctional issues; the Canada/New Brunswick corrections initiative; and links among needs, policies, and services. A final article addresses a ruling by the Supreme Court of Canada on a manslaughter case in which the defendant raised the defenses of insanity, lack of intent, and provocation.
