Abstract
The purpose of this Convention is to promote cooperation to more effectively prevent and combat transnational organized crime. The various articles of the Convention include scope of application; use of terms; criminalization of participation in an organized criminal group and of the laundering of proceeds of crime; measures to combat money laundering; measures against corruption; liability of legal persons; prosecution, adjudication, and sanctions; confiscation and seizure; international cooperation for purposes of confiscation; disposal of confiscated assets; jurisdiction; extradition; mutual legal assistance; joint investigations; special investigative techniques; obstruction of justice; assistance to and protection of witnesses; measures to enhance cooperation with law enforcement authorities; collection and exchange of information on the nature of organized crime; training and technical assistance; implementation of the Convention through economic development and technical assistance; prevention; relation with other conventions; signature, ratification, acceptance, approval, accession, and reservations.
