This 1998-1999 Annual Report of the Alabama Department of Public Safety summarizes the duties and accomplishments of the department’s five divisions: Administrative, Bureau of Investigation, Driver License, Highway Patrol, and Service.
Abstract
The report focuses on each division within the department and their scope, programs, and initiatives. The Administrative Division implements policies and procedures. The Alabama Bureau of Investigation provides investigative assistance to municipal, county, State, Federal, and foreign law enforcement agencies. The Driver License Division is responsible for testing and keeping records on licensed drivers, including traffic arrests and violations and the application of penalties. The Highway Patrol Division consists of four troops made up of twelve Highway Patrol posts and communication centers. The Service Division is responsible for the training, supplies, equipment, assistance and other special services for effective department operation. Financial statements appendix is included.
