The evaluation of the neighborhood team policing was positive. It showed a decrease in the number of crimes committed, a reduction in neighborhood disputes and feelings of insecurity, increasing confidence in the police, and an increase in the number of incidents reported. These positive results occasioned the extension of the experiment to the city of Amsterdam. This apparent success of the experiment, however, does not preclude the need to address a number of problems associated with neighborhood team policing in Haarlem. This paper also discusses the latest reorientation in community policing, including policing that is organized by sector. 43 references
