Abstract
The pamphlet recommends that parents spend time with their children and teenagers; help teenagers gain a sense of self-confidence; and encourage teenagers to become involved in activities that are fun, safe, and fulfilling. Other recommendations are to help teenagers set goals and understand that they have options for the future, let children know that the parent values education highly, and stay involved with the teenager’s schools. Further recommendations are to know where the children are and what they are doing, talk with children early and often about risks such as alcohol and violence, set the right example, make the home safe, watch for signs that the teenager needs help, and becoming involved in the community.
