This article analyzes street-level policing in Brussels.
Abstract
Police are adopting new procedures in response to national as well as local policies in order to better manage their priorities. The procedures, validated by the policing model of fighting crime, stress repression. However, while police policies may be changing, changes for street level personnel involve only the methods and resources placed at their disposal. Local police officers are continuing to not involve the public in their work, save in relation to concerns about effectiveness in developing proactive methods. Notes, figure, bibliography
