The funding offerings are presented under the issues intended to be addressed by the projects that will be funded. These issues are empowering communities, breaking the cycle of drug abuse and crime, combating family violence, addressing youth crime, managing offenders, protecting and supporting crime victims, using technology in countering crime, enhancing law enforcement initiatives, countering terrorism and ensuring domestic preparedness, addressing crime and justice for American Indians and Alaskan Natives, and enhancing criminal justice administration through research and evaluation. Within each of these broad areas to be addressed by funding, information is provided on the various types of programs to be funded. Information on each type of grant program includes the parameters for the program to be funded, the amount of funding available, who can apply, the status of program regulation, guidelines, reports, and application kits. This edition also includes information on new initiatives, including the Offender Re-entry Initiative, community prosecution, and other programs that the Office of Justice Programs is administering on behalf of other Federal agencies.
