This is a general guide to training courses and their tentative scheduling for Maryland police officers and corrections personnel; the period covered is January through June 2001.
Abstract
The courses described for the Executive Development Institute are pertinent to the development of the knowledge and skills required to manage police and corrections agencies and operations. Courses pertinent to emergency vehicle operations are an instructor course, an in-service course, an emergency response course, and an accident avoidance course. Courses in firearms training encompass a firearms instructor school, weapon armorer schools, a less lethal program, a course in less lethal products, simunitions (paint ball) school, management issues on deadly force training, perspective on deadly force training, and the basic school. The Maryland Community Crime Prevention courses include a residential crime prevention training program, a commercial crime prevention training program, mini-training programs, and special crime prevention training programs. Other courses described pertain to Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.), police entrance level training (comparative compliance certification training), mandated police training, correctional entrance level training, mandated correctional training, instructor certification training, and advanced and specialized training.
