Abstract
The first report profiles delinquency cases and youths referred in fiscal year 1998-99. It examines in detail the types of offenses and offenders referred to the Department of Juvenile Justice by law enforcement. The second report provides data on the population of Youth at Risk by District and County; the report is dated September 1999. This is followed by the third report, which is a collection of one-page summaries of delinquency referral trends during the 5-year period of fiscal year 1994-95 through fiscal year 1998-99. The fourth report summarizes the juvenile justice system’s handling of offenses and offenders referred to the Department of Juvenile Justice by law enforcement during fiscal year 1998-99. Another report presents information on subsequent delinquent or criminal involvement of youths released from Florida Department of Juvenile Justice commitment programs between July 1, 1997, and June 30, 1998. The “2000 Outcome Evaluation Report” presents information and data on the outputs and outcomes of juvenile justice programs in Florida for the year 2000, followed by a report that shows the changes in home detention for juveniles during the years from July 1997 through June 1999. The next report summarizes 2 years of measurements of the cost effectiveness of programs that have served committed delinquent youth. Another report examines the relationship, over a 10-year period (fiscal year 1989-90 through fiscal year 1998-99), of detention program indicators for both secure detention and home detention programs operated by the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice. Remaining reports pertain to the determination of best practices in Florida’s juvenile boot camps; delinquency charges, cases, and youths referred by zip code for fiscal year 1998-99; the fiscal impact of reducing juvenile crime; and minority representation at various stages of the juvenile justice system for 1998-99. The reports contain extensive tables and figures.
