This report describes activities of the Massachusetts Coalition for Juvenile Firesetter Programs during the year 2000.
Abstract
Highlights of the Coalition's activities during the year 2000 included: (1) managing a $230,000 appropriation from the Department of Social Services for a comprehensive program to support and expand services for child and adolescent firesetters; (2) providing grants to 15 regional Coalition networks to support the coordination of specialized intervention services to 1,243 children and families; (3) coordinating 24 days of skill training for new program sites; (4) designing and field testing a comprehensive case tracking data base system for collecting and analyzing information about children and families enrolled in program sites and the nature and results of the services they received; (5) reorganizing the Clinical Training Series, offering professional development for mental health and social service professionals interested in affiliating with Coalition sites and advanced and ongoing training for clinicians affiliated with Coalition sites; and (6) researching, designing, and launching a web site to provide the latest information on firesetting-related issues for professionals, parents, and children. The report includes overviews of activities at 18 sites.
