Abstract
Despite the fact that the number of school killings has declined in the last 8 years, concern about school violence remains high. Teachers College is also concerned about these issues. Although the answers to the problem of violence in the schools may not come easily, researchers at the Teachers College are continuing to investigate the problems, causes, and solutions. Through conferences and publications, the faculty of Teachers College and related institutes provide a forum for discussion about these issues with experts who have done the research. In reaching out to schools and communities with programs that can help forge a solution to the problem of school violence, the International Center for Cooperation and Conflict Resolution at the College is putting research to work and providing new areas of study that may enhance the effectiveness of these solutions. In these and other ways, Teachers College continues in its mission to prepare future leaders in education to meet the needs and challenges that teachers, students, and school administrators are likely to face.
