The conference brought together national and regional leaders in education, juvenile justice, and child welfare to address the important advances in prevention research and practice. The CD-ROM has sections on the conference welcome and introduction, keynote speakers, resource search engine, violence and delinquency prevention web links, school violence and delinquency research resources, program evaluation resources, a preview of the CD-ROM on school violence and disruption, and a description of the work of the National Center on Education, Disability, and Juvenile Justice. The conference workshop information is organized by the following themes: school/family/community partnerships, school-based models, professional development, youth perspectives, program evaluation, law and policy, and grant opportunities. Among the nine workshops on school/family/community partnerships, were those that addressed the development of after-school programs and the integration of school-based violence prevention in a citywide system of care. Included in the 10 workshops on school-based models were those that considered strategies to build peaceable schools, the link between student academic success and school safety, and examples of various school security programs. The three workshops on professional development considered a comprehensive approach to behavior management, the use of technology to teach about the prevention of school violence and disruption, and resource tools for implementing a prevention guide. The three workshops on youth perspectives pertained to how youth viewed prevention strategies most likely to have a positive impact on youth. Two workshops addressed models of prevention program evaluation, and four other workshops addressed issues of law and policy in prevention efforts as well as grant opportunities for funding school programs. The preview of the CD-ROM on School Violence and Disruption provides ready-to-use, professional staff in-service and workshop training sessions related to these topics.
