This guidebook describes 36 sets of training materials designed to show health care providers how to manage cases of domestic violence and sexual assault.
Abstract
The materials described include manuals, videos, scripted lectures with slides, information packets, and handbooks. Most of these materials can be used for individual study or as part of the curriculum for staff training by a health care organization. Also included is information on some classroom training programs offered by organizations such as The Family Peace Project in Wisconsin. Although designed for health care providers, many of the training materials contain information suitable for anyone who wishes to learn about domestic violence and sexual assault against women. The book first provides a brief overview of the domestic violence problem in the United States, followed by a discussion of the elements that should be included in any complete training program for health care providers on domestic violence and sexual assault. The body of the book contains descriptions of training programs and materials. Descriptions include the title of the program, its release date, the training medium, the intended audience, a summary of the subjects covered in the training, and information on how to order the training materials. A 14-item annotated bibliography; a listing of organizations with more information, organizations that provide speakers or trainers, and organizations that provide classroom training; and a subject index
