Abstract
The Court Appointed Special Advocates Program (CASA) was started 25 years ago in Seattle, Washington to provide judges with more information about the children whose future has been placed in their hands to make the best decision for the child. CASA trains people from all walks of life to become advocates for kids, learn all they can about a child, and report essential information back to the judge on the child’s needs in a nonjudgmental way. CASA volunteers are assigned to know a child, one child at a time, and understand the boundaries of his/her life. Current CASA programs stretch across the United States. This book presented 15 personal stories of individuals, from California to New Hampshire and from Ohio to Florida, who chose to become volunteer child advocates. These volunteers’ shared goal is to help abused and neglected children find safe, permanent homes and a chance for a future filled with hope.
