This training manual was designed to serve as an introduction into the discipline of forensic anthropology, a training guide, and a reference tool. The manual aids in the ability to collect and process skeletonized human remains. It introduces students to the knowledge and work of a forensic anthropologist. Information is provided in a format that helps the student move along in the study. The chapters are arranged deliberately in a sequence design to enhance effective teaching. The manual is divided into two parts. Part one focuses on the skeletal anatomy (or human osteology) encompassing ten chapters directly addressing the overall human skeleton, such as the skull, shoulder and chest, vertebral column, arm, hand, pelvis, leg, foot, and teeth. Part two moves into the forensic science interface encompassing five chapters focusing on laboratory analysis, field methods, professional results, and human rights applications.
