March 2002
Length
26 pages

This handbook describes the criteria grantees must follow when preparing text for OVC (Office for Victims of Crime) publication.
Abstract
The first section of the handbook addresses the time frame for submitting final text from the start date of the grant. This not only includes a statement of the scheduling for OVC's receipt of the final packet, but also a listing of what the final packet should contain. A chart shows the time frames for the submission of various materials under the OVC grant. The second section of the handbook addresses word-processing and formatting guidelines, i.e., how the grantee/contractor should prepare text for submission to the OVC. The third section of the handbook specifies that the style of the publication must follow the GPO (Government Printing Office) Style Manual. The fourth section outlines the legal and policy requirements to be followed by a grantee/contractor. These pertain to material protected by copyright; contractor/grantee acquisition of license; and copyrighted material compiled, written, or prepared under the contract/grant. The fifth section describes the types of materials that OVC publishes. They include brochures, bulletins, reports, handbooks, monographs, training guides, and resource directories. The concluding section of the handbook states what the OVC does with the final draft in the areas of OVC initial review, editing and graphic design, the approval process, and publication dissemination. 3 notes, a 25-item bibliography, and an appended OVC Style Guide
