Abstract
This Substance Abuse Resource Guide is a compilation of materials that gives lawyers additional resources to assist clients that have a substance abuse problem, or keep clients from developing one. Topics covered include: Community/Pro Bono Service; Criminal Law; Disability Law; Driving While Intoxicated; Drug Courts; Employment Law; Continuing Legal and Judicial Education; Family Law; Judiciary; Juvenile Justice; Lawyer Assistance Programs; Managed Care; Policy; Professional Competencies; Professional Responsibility; and a listing of Organizations and Internet Sites. Furthermore, this guide stresses the need to address substance abuse in a comprehensive way, working with other agencies that are tackling this public health issue in an effort to identify best practices. A quick reference on drug courts is also included to help key stakeholders implement effective client-based substance abuse treatment programs that have been shown to be particularly effective. Drug court evaluations are also available.
