The purpose of the 2001 Crime in Arizona report is to provide data regarding the nature and extent of crime throughout the State. The report does not draw conclusions as to the causes of crime. It does provide information to assist law enforcement agencies, government, and the public in their approach to crime. The Arizona Uniform Crime Reporting program first began receiving voluntary crime statistics from local law enforcement agencies in January 1975. Prior to this date, agencies submitted their crime data directly to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. This report contains narrative data and statistics on murders, rapes, robberies, aggravated assaults, burglaries, larceny-thefts, motor vehicle thefts, and arsons.
