Abstract
This report begins with a message of "Forge ahead in full confidence," from Mr. Jia Chunwang, president of the NNCC. It continues with a review of the drug situation, drug control stands and policy, and coordination among competent authorities. The chapter on the crack down on drug crimes discusses further deepening the obstruction and interception of drug crimes, continuous concentrated rectification, taking strong measures against ice crimes, enhancing the administration of precursor chemicals, and eradication of drug cultivation. The establishment of drug-free communities is described as being in full swing. The section on publicity and prevention includes information on the Chinese Government's publication of the white paper, "Narcotics Control in China," the overwhelming anti-drug publicity on June 26th, enhancing drug-preventive education to juveniles and other vulnerable sectors, and enhancing the theoretical studies of drug control. The extent of China's international cooperation is outlined. An appendix contains information on the structure of the NNCC, the China Drug Control Foundation, drug statistics for 1991-2000, and a narcotics control memorandum of the year 2000. A CD is included.
