This bulletin describes the services of the Federal Office for Victims of Crime Training and Technical Assistance Center (OVC TTAC) and how these services can be accessed.
Abstract
The mission of the OVC TTAC is to support the development of the field of victim services by increasing the Nation's capacity to provide crime victims with skilled, capable, and sensitive assistance. This is done by using comprehensive, high-quality training and technical assistance resources for victim service providers, advocates, and allied professionals. The three core functions of OVC TTAC are needs assessment, capacity building, and evaluation and reporting. Surveys, stakeholder discussion groups, and document reviews are used to assess the needs of key constituencies and track changes in these needs. By developing and delivering training and technical assistance resources, OVC TTAC assists organizations in fostering professional development of their staff, enhancing services to their communities, and reaching unserved and underserved crime victims. In addition, OVC TTAC measures and reports on the effectiveness of capacity-building activities. Special consideration is given to requests for training and technical assistance that will have statewide or regional impact or will help multiple agencies or a diverse network of professional service providers to improve their services to crime victims.
