The report contains an overview of trends over the most recent 2-year period for a selection of serious offense categories. The second section presents, for all offense categories, the monthly number of recorded criminal offenses. There are three tables in this section, one each for 2000, 2001, and 2002. Each table provides a total for the year and the annual rate per 100,000 population. The third section provides monthly numbers for alleged offenders proceeded against by the type of process pursued in the reference. There are three tables in this section, one each for 2000, 2001, and 2002. The fourth section provides the numbers and percentages of cleared criminal offenses for selected type of offenses for 2000, 2001, and 2002. The fifth section of the report contains 30 tables, 1 for each major offense category. Each table presents the numbers and rates of recorded criminal incidents for the periods January to December of 2000, 2001, and 2002. The report indicates that of the 16 major offense categories, only "steal from retail store" showed an upward trend. In the 2 years to December 2002 the incidence of six offense categories showed significant declines; these were robbery without a weapon, robbery with a weapon not a firearm, break and enter dwelling, break and enter non-dwelling, motor vehicle theft, and theft from a motor vehicle.
