This document presents 2001 data from the Arrestee Drug Abuse Monitoring Program (ADAM) for adult male arrestees, adult female arrestees, and juvenile detainees.
Abstract
This volume is organized into separate sections for adult male arrestees, adult female arrestees, and juvenile detainees, due to differences in how the respective data are collected. The adult male arrestee data are weighted according to statistical sampling techniques, while the adult female arrestee and juvenile detainee data are self-weighted. The first part of the adult male and female site reports provides the age and race of male/female booked arrestees, the percent male/female positive for drugs, and the percent male/female positive for drugs by offense. The second part provides additional descriptive statistics on the sample. The information includes the education, current housing, current employment status, current health insurance, self-reported use of five primary drugs, past 30-day use, self-reported arrests in the past year, and injected drugs in past year. The third part includes treatment and dependence/abuse indicators. These indicators include experience with any treatment, and risk for drug dependence and abuse. The final part is limited to respondents that reported obtaining a drug in the past 30 days. The information includes the percent reporting circumstance of last drug buy; the percent reporting other than cash transaction; methods of obtaining the five primary drugs; acquiring drugs without paying cash (manufacture or other); reasons why drugs not purchased by events; and location of drug purchase.
