Techno-culture is connected to events in which individuals dance all night to purely electronic music, and individuals’ usage of both alcohol and amphetamines are particularly relevant in facilitating a techno-culture lifestyle. Since the 1990's amphetamine derivatives have been marketed under the catchall term “ecstasy,” and most ecstasy users identify themselves as fans of techno music and participants in a techno lifestyle. The author suggests that amphetamine and alcohol use are inextricably linked with the techno scene and are viewed as an essential part of techno culture. Within the techno scene one finds a faction of the drug culture that is influenced by society as a whole with a desire to be a part of a unified, euphoric family. The techno scene itself reflects the characteristics of a post-traditional, part-time, yet holistic, supportive community. References
