The Office for Victims of Crime (OVC), through the Federal Crime Victims Division, offers grants to American Indian tribes to assist in the development, implementation, and operation of programs designed to improve the investigation and prosecution of child abuse cases. A particular focus of the grant program is on tribal programs that seek to limit additional trauma to the child, especially child victims of sexual abuse. Currently, OVC supports up to 25 such grants annually, each 1 requiring an in-kind match to foster tribal investment in the program. In-kind matches may be in the form of staff time, facilities, office space, employee loans, agency partnerships, or a hard match of cash. Federally recognized Indian tribes and tribal organizations are eligible, as are nonprofit organizations that provide services to American Indians and Alaska Natives.
