Abstract
Two maps show drug seizures per million population by police force area for 2000 and year-by-year change in the number of drug seizures reported by police force area for 1999-2000. Five data tables on drug seizures address seizures of controlled drugs by authority and year, rates of seizure of controlled drugs by police forces and year, seizures of controlled drugs by police force area and other organizations and drug type for 2000, rates of seizure of controlled drugs by police forces and drug type for 2000, and quantities of controlled drugs seized by police forces and other organizations and drug type for 2000. Eight tables pertain to data on drug offenders by police force area or other authority. The data focus on the number of persons found guilty, cautioned, given a fine, or dealt with by compounding for drug offenses by police force area or other authority. A separate table presents data on cautioning/compounding rates for drug offenses by police forces or other authorities and year. A map shows the proportion of drug offenders cautioned by police force area for 2000, and another map portrays the proportion of drug offenders sentenced to immediate custody by police force area for the United Kingdom for 2000.
