Drew Molloy, assistant section chief of the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services, was installed as president of the American Probation and Parole Association at the annual training institute meeting in Cleveland, OH, held from August 24 through August 27, 2003. This article presents Molloy’s views on the challenges facing probation services and associations in the next few years. Molloy indicated that one of the biggest challenges facing probation services concerns the on-going budget cuts occurring at the Federal, State, and local levels. Noting that Homeland security is extremely important to the well-being of the country, Molloy argues that the role of APPA is to ensure that the voice of probation, parole, and community corrections is heard when decisions are made concerning staff safety, offender populations with special needs, and other such challenges. Molloy contends that the future of APPA is secure because it is an important organization for giving voice to so many different associations. In terms of specific goals for his presidency, Molloy wants to increase APPA’s membership, strengthen the budget, establish new partnerships, and to remain a strong voice in national and international probation, parole, and community corrections issues,
